Who is Reade Gauvin? Now you know:

Reade Gauvin’s folk pop songwriting is lit in primary colours and set to a hopscotch beat. It ambles with a curious mind, and raises only the thoughts that matter. Reade comes by that classroom confidence honestly. She is a music educator, based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, but originally from Moncton NB. On her debut single, “First Impressions”, you can hear a children’s choir made up of her very own students.

“First Impressions'' was produced by Amy Aileen Wood (Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten), and features East Coast mainstay Kinley Dowling on Violin. Few artists have the chance to record their first single with such heavyweights but thanks to the Music PEI’s Golden Ticket Program, Reade was able to work with her dream producer and musicians. The collaboration started with Gauvin and Wood trading ideas via email and after the musical arrangements were set, the sessions were conducted virtually with Amy (who is thankfully an early riser), joining in from California.

It’s clear that, for Reade, action and art go hand-in-hand. She has partnered with a local non-profit, (also called First Impressions) which helps PEI women in need get access to clothing, footwear and accessories. In 2021, she received the Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund Music Award and in 2022, the Arizona-based Keli May Artist Spotlight Scholarship for making a difference in her community through music.

In music and life, Reade Gauvin is quickly making a lasting impression.
